This programme is designed to provide learners with the competencies required to manage functions within a sound technology workplace. The programme also provides knowledge of the theory and practice of music. The qualification will enable the effective introduction, implementation and management of systems, processes and procedures required for the operation of sound technology environment.

Duration

The programme duration is 1 year on a full-time basis.

Career fields

With this qualification, successful learners could pursue a career as a:

  • Junior Audio Installation Technician and Audio Editor
  • Junior Audio DJ and Music Producer
  • Junior Live System Technical Support Technician

Certification

Upon successful completion of the whole programme, i.e. competence achieved in the summative assessments, the successful completion of the WIL component, and provided the learners PoE is found competent, the learner will receive a Damelin Results Letter outlining the unit standards covered. Damelin will apply to MICT SETA on the learners behalf for the National Certificate: Music Industry: Sound Technology, SAQA ID 48671, NQF level 5 with 139 credits to be awarded.

Admission Requirements

  • It is assumed that learners embarking on learning towards this qualification are already competent in the areas of communication, mathematics, technology and computer literacy at NQF level 4 in the FET Band, and Life Skills at NQF Level 2
  • These competencies are required in order to render sound engineering management services, and to conduct themselves professionally
