Bachelor of Commerce in Financial Management (Distance)

The purpose of the Bachelor of Commerce in Financial Management is to prepare students for the field of Financial Management by catering for seasoned professionals as well as new entrants to the industry. This is done by providing a formal learning intervention through a degree course.
The Bachelor of Commerce in Financial Management will contribute to the career progression of individuals by consolidating their practical experience as well as acting as an entry point for aspiring business professionals.
With respect to the student’s career within financial management, this degree is an important and critical entry requirement for the industry.
Once obtaining this degree a student has several opportunities available to them such as pursuing an accounting specialisation, an investment specialisation, a financial management specialisation or sub-finance categories such as credit manager, stockbroker, corporate finance, or financial planner.

Duration

The programme duration is 3 years on a part-time basis.

Certification

On successful completion of the programme, the student will receive a Bachelor of Commerce in Financial Management degree.

Admission Requirements

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Degree endorsement, or
• A National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 4 with Degree endorsement, or
• Amended Senior Certificate (ASC), with Degree endorsement, or
• A Senior Certificate (SC), with University Exemption or Degree endorsement, or
• Foreign School leaving Certificate that complies with minimum admission requirements for Degree study as gazetted by the Matriculation Board (Equivalency evaluation is completed with the Matriculation Board)

Alternative admission requirements

• Senate discretionary admission
• Mature Age (45 years of age): conditions apply
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Additional Requirements

• Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy and English at NQF level 4 or equivalent
• Foreign applicants whose first language is not English, may be required to provide proof of proficiency in English prior to admission to the programme
